Ershad Ahmed

Syed Ershad Ahmed MPHF joined Rotary in the year of 1986 as a charter member of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Cosmopolitan. His classification is Corporate Management.

He served as the President of  Rotary Club of Dhaka Cosmopolitan  in the Year 1997-98. Under his leadership, his club was awarded as the Best Club in the district, and he became the Best President.

He was also the chartered member of the Rotary club of Baridhara and served as the President of the club in 2011-12. Under his leadership, Club became the Best Club, and he became the best President.

He served in many important roles in the districts. Assistant Governor 2009-10 (RID -3280), Lt. Governor 2014-15 (RID-3281), District Conference Chair (RID-3281) 2013-2014, Rotary Brand Ambassador 2015-16, and Governor’s Special Aide 2019-20. He attended several Rotary international conventions.

Projects: Rotary Club of Baridhara set up several Permanent Projects with his initiative and active support including medicine bank and children’s play zone at Dhaka Shishu Hospital, a vocational training center for sewing at RCC Bailgatua, Daulatpur, and Khustia. He organized career guidance, leadership seminars, and other vocational training programs for the New Generations, etc. He also actively took part in setting up  couple of global grant projects for the Rotary club of Baridhara.  Currently, he is a member of the National Polio plus Committee for Bangladesh (RID 3281 & 3282). He did receive Citation from the Rotary International Presidents several times, including Four Avenue Service (1999-2000), Membership development (several times).  He was a Rotaractor and past President of Rotaract Club of Ramna, Dhaka (Y 1984).

Besides Rotary, he was engaged as a volunteer to FAVH (Fellowship for the Advancement of the visually Handicapped people), a local NGO that worked to better visually handicapped people. And he also served over 7 years (1996-2002) as President of that organization. During his presidency tenure, he ran two major projects - CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) at Faridpur district of Bangladesh with the support of Action Aid Bangladesh, under which they rehabilitated over 300 people with microcredit support, and the other project was to run a brail library to support visually handicapped students.

Career: Syed Ershad Ahmed is an acclaimed and distinguished businessperson who is currently the Country Manager and Managing Director of Expeditors (Bangladesh) Ltd., a subsidiary of Expeditors International of Washington, Inc., a global logistics company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A having its wide operational network around the globe being enlisted in NASDAQ. It employs thousands of trained professionals in a worldwide network of over 331 locations in 109 countries across six continents. Ershad is a true visionary and a major force in bringing efficiency and implementing advanced technologies in this industry. His business leadership spans over 35 years starting from renowned multinational companies like Phillips and Singer followed by a US Fortune 500 company, Expeditors. He wrote many research-based articles which have been published in many print media. These research-based write-ups played an important role in the policymaking of different business sectors. Being a highly optimistic individual, Mr. Ahmed never takes away his focus from the potentiality of the country and whenever he had the opportunity, he always branded Bangladesh and its potential with high regard. Regarding the development of this country, alongside printing media, he has given interviews several times on electronic media on various important issues of the country.

Mr. Ahmed has chaired and participated in many seminars and workshops at home and abroad. In February 2012, he took part in the” Secretary’s Global Business Conference” held in White House, Washington D.C. being invited by the then US Secretary of State, Ms. Hillary Clinton. Mr. Ahmed was the only nominated invitee who had the honor to represent Bangladesh in that world’s top-level business conference along with the Global CEOs and top-level executives of Boeing, Coca-Cola, Chevron, GE, Walmart, and others.   

Syed Ershad Ahmed is associated with different chamber and trade bodies. He is the Former President of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Executive Member of the Board of International Chamber of commerce – Bangladesh Chapter (ICC-Bangladesh) and, Co-Chairman of a couple of standing Committee of the Federation of Chamber of commerce in Bangladesh (FBCCI), and currently, he is serving as the President of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) for third terms.

Ershad has traveled to over 100 cities of the world on different continents and has received many national and international awards and recognitions for his contribution to business and community.
